Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps taken by Rubbish Removal Chelsea to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights and to act ethically and with integrity in all of our business relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Rubbish Removal Chelsea provides waste and rubbish removal services to residential, commercial and public sector clients. Our operations rely on a combination of directly employed staff, agency workers and third-party suppliers who support services such as waste collection, transportation, recycling, equipment maintenance and the provision of uniforms and consumables.
We understand that modern slavery can occur at any stage of the supply chain, from the sourcing of materials and labour to the provision of contracted services. We therefore aim to identify and manage potential risks wherever they may arise.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, debt bondage and human trafficking. This applies to our own operations, our supply chains and all business relationships in which we are involved. We will not knowingly engage with, or continue to work with, any party that is involved in or benefits from such practices.
All employees, managers and officers of Rubbish Removal Chelsea are expected to act in accordance with this policy and to promote a culture of respect, fairness and accountability. We communicate our zero-tolerance approach clearly to our staff and expect our suppliers and contractors to adhere to equivalent standards.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We seek to work only with suppliers and contractors that share our commitment to ethical conduct. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing relationship management, we require suppliers to confirm that they comply with all relevant modern slavery and human trafficking legislation and that they prohibit the use of forced, bonded or involuntary labour.
Where we identify higher-risk categories of suppliers, such as labour agencies, overseas providers or those involved in manual processing of waste, we may conduct enhanced due diligence. This can include requests for evidence of policies, worker contracts, right-to-work checks, wage records and grievance mechanisms.
We reserve the right to carry out supplier audits, either remotely or on site, to verify compliance with our expectations. If non-compliance is identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a defined timeframe. Where significant or repeated breaches occur, we will suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Rubbish Removal Chelsea encourages anyone with concerns about potential modern slavery or human trafficking in our operations or supply chains to report these without delay. Concerns may be raised by employees, agency workers, suppliers, subcontractors, customers or members of the public.
Reports can be made to line managers, senior management or the designated compliance contact within the business. We will treat all concerns seriously, investigate them promptly and, where appropriate, take remedial or disciplinary action. We will not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
We also support the use of confidential reporting, allowing individuals to share information without fear of adverse consequences. All reports will be handled as sensitively as possible, and information will be shared only with those who need to know in order to investigate and address the issue.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement and supplier management. Training and guidance are designed to help employees recognise indicators of exploitation, understand reporting routes and make informed decisions when selecting and managing suppliers.
By improving knowledge and awareness, we aim to reduce the likelihood that modern slavery can occur unnoticed within our sphere of influence.
Monitoring and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continual improvement. We monitor the effectiveness of our actions through regular review of supplier performance, feedback from staff, the number and nature of any reports received and the outcomes of investigations.
This Statement is reviewed at least once every 12 months by the senior management of Rubbish Removal Chelsea to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. Where necessary, we update our policies, procedures and training to address emerging risks and to enhance our approach.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the leadership of Rubbish Removal Chelsea and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery in all aspects of our business and supply chains.
